Wall Magazines - A Boon for Schools and Colleges

Wall Magazines - A Boon for Schools and Colleges

Start your own “ Wall Magazine ”
Hello friends!
How to publish your articles, drawings and collected items without extra cost?
Is there any way to do this?
Who will do this?
Well, here is your solution. You can start your own “Wall Magazine”. The great Roman conqueror Julius Caeser started publishing the “Wall Magazine” and put them up at some important places of the Roman Empire to tell the people about the activities of the Senate. The practice continued throughout the Empire for quite a long time. Many governments all over the world published such magazines.
The “Wall Magazine” made its way to the corridors of schools and colleges also. Many schools in Russia, America, Britain and India have their own wall magazines. In Karnataka also there are more than 8000 schools which have thier own “Wall Magazines”. Thanks to the efforts of the students and teachers, many new talents have got their articles published not only in their school “Wall Magazines and Journals” but also got them published in the state and national level newspapers and magazines too.

How to start a “Wall Magazine”?

Very simple!
Consult your class-teacher or head master / mistress and request him / her to provide a space for your “Wall Magazine” in the school notice board. Request one of the teachers of the staff to become the adviser or the editor-in-chief. Request all your friends to contribute articles, jokes, drawings, collection of quotations, quiz, cartoons, paper clippings etc. Select a team of friends to carry out the editorial tasks which include editing, writing or fair copying the articles given, preparing a format or lay out and pasting it on the space reserved for “Wall Magazine”. When you are ready, take a big drawing sheet and draw some columns. (You can use the given model to do this.) You see many columns in a newspapers. Likewise you can also draw the columns. If the papers clippings, cartoons, colour drawing items are there, you can trim them suitably and paste them on the drawing sheet. In the top portion of the sheet, you can write the name of your “Wall Magazine” in bold letters. On the left hand top corner, you can write the names of the editor-in-chief and the student editor. On the right hand top corner, you can write the name of your school or your club / association. You can fix a specific day for publishing the “Wall Magazine”.
If there are good number of contributors, you can bring out your “Wall Magazine” every week. If you feel that it is too early, then you can bring it out once in a fortnight or a month.
How is the idea?
Do you like this?
When shall I see your “Wall Magazine” published?
If you publish a“Wall Magazine” in your school or club, please do send a photograph of the same to us. We shall show it to all others and encourage them to start one such a “Wall Magazine” in their schools also.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Bye!
